Why Relying on Typing Will Soon Become Obsolete | by Souradip Pal | Mar, 2025

Think about this — you sit down to write an email, but instead of tapping away at a keyboard, the words appear on the screen as you think them. No voice commands. No hand movements. Just pure thought, seamlessly converted into text. Sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie, right?

Well, that future might be closer than you think.

Meta, the company behind Facebook, has recently achieved a major breakthrough in brain-computer interfaces (BCI). In a series of research papers, they revealed a revolutionary method that translates thoughts into text with 80% accuracy — without requiring physical input.

How does it work? The secret lies in two advanced neuroimaging techniques:

  • Magnetoencephalography (MEG): Captures tiny magnetic signals from brain activity.
  • Electroencephalography (EEG): Records electrical activity in the brain.

By using these specialized sensors, researchers were able to track participants’ brain signals as they typed sentences. Then, a powerful deep-learning AI, dubbed “brain to quity,” was trained to predict text based purely on these…
